Government Relations helps ERIE navigate legislative and regulatory issues that impact our Business, Customers, and the insurance industry. Through education, advocacy, information sharing, and political engagement, we work to promote a stable, competitive, and predictable regulatory environment while keeping ERIE informed and prepared for change.
Government Relations uses four primary strategies to achieve their objectives:
📖 Education – We help employees and agents understand how legislative and regulatory developments affect ERIE, the insurance industry, and the Customers we serve through educational resources, updates, and presentations.
🏛️ Advocacy – We monitor state and federal legislative and regulatory activity and engage with legislators, regulators, and, most frequently, industry trade associations to advocate for sound public policy and represent ERIE’s interests.
📄 Information – We gather and share timely legislative and regulatory information across the organization, helping business areas understand emerging issues, assess potential impacts, and provide input on proposed changes.
🗳️ Political Action Committees – ERIE’s PACs are focused on supporting and ultimately electing leaders who embrace the importance of a regulatory environment that is beneficial to both businesses and consumers.
