Tell Lawmakers to Support Critical TPLF Reform in the Tax Bill

Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) has introduced a critical provision included in the Senate’s version of the reconciliation bill that would enact much-needed reform of the highly secretive practice of third-party litigation funding (TPLF).

The Senator’s proposal—the Tackling Predatory Litigation Funding (TPLF) Act (S. 1821)—will help close a loophole that encourages foreign investors to finance frivolous, often predatory lawsuits for their own financial gain. If passed, this provision would ensure unscrupulous TPLF funders are paying taxes on litigation proceeds just like everyone else and removes incentives that encourage abusive and frivolous lawsuits. Help us urge House and Senate Republicans to include and pass Senator Tillis’ commonsense measure as part of their version of the tax bill. Please review and send your message to your lawmakers today.
