Tell Your Legislators to Oppose the American Privacy Rights Act

The deeply flawed American Privacy Rights Act could have vast, unintended consequences for insurers and the policyholders we serve. By failing to exempt insurers, it would create significant conflicts with the privacy regime and protections that have already been established for our industry under the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) leading to increased and unnecessary regulation by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). As currently written, APRA would also include a new private right of action that could lead to increased litigation, court costs, and insurance rates for policyholders.

Join our industry and others in the business community in speaking out against this misguided legislation. Please review and send your message to your legislators today.
