The Terrorism Risk Insurance Act (TRIA) has protected Americans and economic stability at virtually no cost to the taxpayers since it was enacted in 2002. However, if it is not reauthorized in a timely manner, most terrorism insurance protection may be in jeopardy.
Fortunately, Congress is considering legislation (H.R. 7128/S. 4395) that would renew the Terrorism Risk Insurance Program for another seven years, extending the program’s vital economic protection against acts of terrorism that so many U.S. companies rely on. It’s critical for lawmakers to pass this legislation in 2026 so they aren’t scrambling to renew TRIA when it expires in 2027.
